Economic progress and Inclusion of people affected by Leprosy and Disabilities through Vocational Training and Employment Support
This project provides support throughout the continuum of care: active case finding, facilitation into treatment, complications management, ulcer care, footwear distribution, pre- / post -operative care for reconstructive surgeries; prevention of disability, socio-economic rehabilitation and promotion of patients’ rights through Self Support Groups; and health systems strengthening.

TB and Leprosy services and activities are implemented through 34 combined TB and Leprosy clinics.
The project is focused on LF, but includes morbidity management and disability prevention for leprosy at the community level, through self-support groups with training and footwear provision and socio-economic rehabilitation.
This is the outreach arm of the Swabhiman 2.0 project in Odisha delivering active case finding, facilitation of reconstructive surgeries, and training and support of government clinics to deliver disability prevention. The FM supported hospital RISDT is providing qualitative inpatient and outpatient services for persons affected by leprosy. These services include general services for persons affected by leprosy, as well as treatment of complications of leprosy such as ulcers and reactions, reconstructive surgeries and measures for the prevention of disability. FAIRMED is covering the costs of 50 reconstructive surgeries per year.
The goal is “to decrease the number of new leprosy cases, child cases, and cases with disability by 30% and increase SDR-PEP administration and diagnostic services by 30% in NLR India’s intervention districts by 2026 compared to the baseline data of 2023-24″ (national report April 23- March 24).
