EMPOWER: Empowering Community Support Groups for a sustainable community-based NTD program in Kasai

This project builds on existing community based groups of people affected by NTDs. This project aims to strengthen the governance and income generation of the CBGs for sustainability.

ELETRA project is aims for ending leprosy transmission in Region Administrative Especial Oecusse Ambeno.

Education for all – Improving Access to Quality Education for Children with Disabilities

To empower children with disabilities and their families. A total of 8,385 PWDs will be facilitated access to assistive devices, reconstructive surgeries and school materials to restore their mobility or physical function and access education. About 3,507 of the neediest PWDs will receive direct support. About 15 Parent Support Groups (PSGs) consisting of 300 parents or caregivers of PWDs will receive skills training and funding for business start-ups and two (2) FDPOs (Federation of Disabled People Organisation) will be enabled to undertake mobilisation, advocacy and awareness raising projects.

Education for Empowerment

To provide non-educational support to elementary and middle school children and adults for empowerment. The coaches who provide the support are university students from self-help groups.

Distribution of protective material against COVID 19, improvement of access to drinking water and basic livelihoods among the population in extreme poverty in Bangalore

The objective of the project is, on the one hand, to supply protection and disinfection materials to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 between the settlements where about 19,000 people are overcrowded; and on the other hand, distribute basic livelihoods (food, medicine and drinking water) among the beneficiary population with special attention to people affected by leprosy.

Moreover, GLRA becomes more visible and a preferred partner in the region by governments, local /international donors and beneficiaries/ the public.

The project supports the orthopedic unit for disability prevention and physical rehabilitation of people affected by leprosy in Vizianagaram district (Andhra Pradesh state).

Disability prevention and physical rehabilitation of people affected by leprosy in Koraput district

The objective of this project is the promotion of early diagnosis of leprosy, prevention of disabilities and medical rehabilitation of people affected by leprosy; strengthening the referral system and facilitating early diagnosis and treatment of leprosy with the active participation of ASHAs (health agents) and staff of primary care centers.

Disability prevention and socio-economic rehabilitation of people affected by leprosy in Chittoor district

Through this project, our local partner, SCOPE, organizes mobile clinics to go through the villages of the district locating people affected by leprosy and giving them first of all health care and means to prevent disabilities (orthopedic shoes, prosthetics, etc.) and subsequently, both them and their families, training in income-generating activities.

Data Strengthening Project

The project aims to improve Health Information Systems of Telangana State NLEP, by assessing current data system and data collection process at different levels, from PHC to State, followed by gap-filling and capacity-building exercises based on the findings and recommendations. The project also supports the development and effective utilization of data collection tools and formats by the state NLEP team.
