ILEP has just completed an exciting and action-packed Neglected Tropical Disease NDGO Network meeting in Washington, with a number of ILEP Members attending.
Leprosy Session: Dirk Engels, WHO Head of NTDs, opened the session with some excellent, thought-provoking words on the need for integration which led to an enthusiastic debate. It was encouraging to have four presentations from the ILEP community in Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Nigeria who are integrating at national and community level, as well as looking at cross-cutting issues with WASH and Disability management.
Finally, ILEP is pleased to announce that Sarah Nancollas, Chief Executive, Lepra and Tanya Wood, Chief Executive Officer, ILEP were confirmed as the new Vice Chairs of the NNN. This reflects the commitment from many sectors to ensure that leprosy is better integrated into a broader NTD agenda, as well as recognition that leprosy NGOs have considerable knowledge and experience to offer the NTD world.
