Strengthening Future: Education and Social Development of Children via SHG and Churches ( SESC-SHG)
Country: Bangladesh
Location(s): Dhaka, Gazipur, Munshiganj, Narayonganj, Brahmanbaria, Cumilla
The main purpose of this project is to improve the education regularity of vulnerable students of Self-help Group (SHG) members and Churches, and reduce the dropout rate. OPLDs are incorporating education issues to their annual plan and regular meeting agenda to focus on the importance of education. There is also enhanced social responsibility of eligible students by regularly caring for study at home, supporting siblings/neighboring students on study and mental health, and creating opportunity for generating income by OPLD through coaching management. This holistic approach aims to support the educational and social development of children from leprosy-affected families and other disadvantaged groups associated with SHGs and church communities.
